Zbigniew Libera. Works 1982–2008
1 December 2009 - 7 February 2010
The Zbigniew Libera exhibition in Warsaw’s Zachęta is, following his American exhibition, the second retrospective exhibition of the artist’s oeuvre in the world and the first in Poland, encompassing the three decades of his activity in art. The enigma is, why the work of Libera, a leading figure in Polish critical art, and the author of such significant and widely known works as “Lego. Concentration Camp” or “Positives,” has not yet been the subject of an extensive monographic presentation or publication. The project at the Zachęta National Gallery of Art, realized in tight collaboration with the artist, aims to fill that gap, presenting alongside the known works, photographs and films from the 80s that have not previously been published, and also some of the corrective devices from the 90s that have not yet been exhibited in Poland.
